ANSES's French Agency for Veterinary Medicinal Products inaugurates its new building
The French Agency for Veterinary Medicinal Products (ANMV) inaugurated its new building today, in the presence of Roger Genet, Director General of ANSES, Loïg Chesnais-Girard, President of the Brittany Regional Council, Jean-Luc Chenut, President of the Ille-et-Vilaine Departmental Council and Jean-Pierre Orand, Director of the ANMV.
These new premises, at the heart of the BioAgroPolis centre of excellence in Javené, will now house the ANMV’s 85 employees, whose everyday work supports the various missions to assess and manage veterinary medicinal products. Created in Fougères in 1995, the ANMV has now been involved in health issues relating to veterinary medicinal products for more than twenty years. The completion of this architectural project is a testament to the historical support of local authorities, such as the Brittany region and the Ille-et-Vilaine département, helping to ensure that science is well equipped to meet the challenges facing agriculture and the environment.
The ANMV, as part of ANSES, is the competent authority for the assessment and management of risks associated with veterinary medicinal products in France. In this respect, the Agency examines marketing authorisation applications for veterinary medicinal products, and authorises and inspects veterinary pharmaceutical establishments. It is also responsible for surveillance of the French veterinary medicinal products market, through its verification of drug quality, and for monitoring adverse reactions as part of its veterinary pharmacovigilance activity.
As a major player in veterinary regulation and antimicrobial resistance, both at European level and internationally as a collaborating centre of the OIE (World Organisation for Animal Health), the ANMV is fully committed to protecting public health and animal health and welfare.
