Sophie Le Quellec appointed Communication and Institutional Relations Director at ANSES
On 3 June 2019, Sophie Le Quellec was appointed Communication and Institutional Relations Director at ANSES and Head of Cabinet to the Agency's Director General. A specialist in communication issues related to scientific and technical subjects of public interest, Sophie Le Quellec will now coordinate debate and initiatives aimed at raising the profile of ANSES's expertise and values. She succeeds Alima Marie-Malikité, who has been appointed Communication Director at Météo France.
An agricultural engineer by training, Sophie Le Quellec began her career as communication manager for the Société Commerciale des Potasses d'Alsace. After initially gaining experience in consulting as a director of studies for companies in the agricultural sector, then completing a course in institutional communication at CELSA, she joined the communication and public relations agency i&e in 2002.
At i&e then Burson-Marsteller i&e, where she moved up to the position of consulting director, she specialised in the field of health, specifically public health, environmental health and medical innovation. Among others, she advised and assisted AFSSET, the French Biomedicine Agency and the Ministry of Ecology on institutional communication policies, public health campaigns (organ and gamete donation) and consultation exercises (2009 national consultation on bioethics, 2013 national conference on natural risks, 2013 national conferences on environmental health).
In 2016, Sophie Le Quellec joined UNEDIC to help develop its communication on its performance and social value as manager of France’s unemployment insurance scheme. After being promoted to Information and Communication Director in 2017, she worked to publicise and promote the expert support provided by UNEDIC in the recent phases of negotiation and consultation between the social partners, and between the social partners and the State.
Sophie Le Quellec now becomes Head of Cabinet to the Director General and will lead ANSES's communication and institutional relations strategy. As such, she will drive and implement the Agency's policies for disseminating its scientific work in support of public policymaking. She will therefore contribute to the ongoing dialogue with all the Agency’s partners and stakeholders in order to share ANSES's scientific expertise according to its principles of openness and transparency.
As someone concerned about the social value of the projects and actions I carry out, I fully support ANSES's scientific and ethical commitments, as well as the values of transparency and dialogue it upholds. Contributing to debate and decision-making with sound scientific benchmarks is essential to support public policymaking that reflects health realities and civil society issues as closely as possible.
