Manuelle Vertot is appointed as ANSES's ethics officer
Manuelle Vertot, Head of ANSES's Legal Affairs Unit, has been appointed as the Agency's ethics officer, in application of the Decree of 10 June 2016 on the presence of an ethics officer within health authorities and organisations. She takes on this new mission for a three-year term.
The Act of 26 January 2016 on the modernisation of our health system requires the appointment of an ethics officer within each public body in the health field.
ANSES has thus nominated Manuelle Vertot, holder of a DEA postgraduate degree in Private Law and a professional lawyer's certificate, and Head of the Agency's Legal Affairs Unit since 2012, to carry out this mission.
In addition to an impeccable knowledge of legislation and case law in the field of ethics, for the past three years Manuelle Vertot has been following the work of ANSES's Committee for Ethical Standards and the Prevention of Conflicts of Interest, an independent body set up in 2011 and chaired by Pierre Le Coz, Associate Professor in Philosophy, Doctor in Life Sciences and Health, and Director of the Department of Human Sciences of the Faculty of Medicine at Aix - Marseille University.
Manuelle Vertot will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the requirements to declare interests and prevent conflicts of interest that are necessary at ANSES. She will ensure that all appropriate measures are taken to obtain public declarations of interest, and that the decisions resulting from the analysis of declared links of interest are taken into account. She will also verify that measures are applied to prevent or bring to an end any situation of conflict of interest. In general, she will advise the Agency's management as to the organisational measures appropriate and necessary for the fulfilment of these obligations.
She will carry out this role for a term of three years, calling on all the Agency's departments for support, and taking into account the opinions and recommendations of ANSES's Committee for Ethical Standards and the Prevention of Conflicts of Interest.
