ANSES and UPEC consolidate their cooperation
On Thursday 3 October, Roger Genet, Director General of ANSES, and Jean-Luc Dubois-Randé, President of UPEC (University of Paris-Est-Créteil Val-de-Marne), signed a framework partnership agreement, strengthening the two organisations' scientific cooperation in key areas of the "One Health" approach and research. This partnership covers the major areas of expertise shared by the two organisations, such as chronic and infectious diseases, environmental and occupational health risks, and animal feed and health.
ANSES and UPEC have been working together for many years now, particularly in the fields of human, animal, environmental and social health, around the unifying One Health concept. By signing this framework partnership agreement, they are strengthening the development of their joint work and their ongoing partnerships.
This agreement will help promote strong interdisciplinary synergies and establish state-of-the-art technological platforms and tools, in order to improve the early detection of emerging risks and anticipate developments in diseases. Indeed, monitoring ecosystems and pathogens using predictive models enables systemic responses to health threats to be prepared.
These strengthened partnerships will result, for example, in:
- reciprocal hosting of staff in the parties' laboratories, in particular the hosting of ANSES doctoral students;
- co-funding of theses;
- collaborative research structures, either joint or run in partnership;
- joint responses to regional, national and international calls for projects;
- production and/or provision of data;
- collaboration on higher education courses, particularly those related to research (master and doctorate courses, etc.), undergraduate courses, continuing education, etc.
The ANSES/UPEC area of expertise will add to the University's range of courses leading to diplomas or other qualifications, and enable it to offer short "Summer School" type courses in cutting-edge fields, for which university diplomas are awarded.
ANSES will contribute to the training of future professionals in epidemiology, antimicrobial resistance, and analysis and identification of physico-chemical contaminants and toxins. Lastly, the Agency will be able to host interns in its research laboratories at all training levels.
